Never thought I'd see this day coming. It was a tough decision and I had to re-do it once already, seeing as though I tried to save and the page went back.
Shade (My FIRST EVER character on C.S back in 11') desperately needed changing. She was too scruffy and her markings were random and jumbled. Not many of her designs actually meant anything as opposed to a character like Midnight Killer.
Character, concept and design (c) to me
Name: Shade
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown
Breed: Pure Demon Horse
Date of retirement: 06/08/14
Personality: Her history has changed the way she thinks and reacts... It's like a permanent scar engraved in her brain... Even though her world was a death hole, and she had her dreams and family ripped away before her eyes, she managed to pull through and survive without letting it affect her. Lorem, thankfully, was good enough to teach her how to be kind, but an evil spark still lurks within her despite her tutoring.
Lorem is Shade's best friend, and they always teach other how to be strong and pull through, it is not unusual for Shade to be violent, or have a sudden urge to kill, but atleast Lorem understands why she is like she is.
History: When Shade was only a yearling, she had been brought up in a strict manner. All the things she had yearned for as a little girl had been taken away from her, and nothing she seemed to do impressed her father, who was the brutal leader of the realm in the first place. Of course, Shade knew she couldn't choose who her father was, or who anybody was for that matter. Besides, she wasn't that experienced in magic to do anything anyway. Living a peaceful life was very tough in Death's Disaster, what with all of the blood-thirsty stallions lurking in the dark like paedophiles, and predatory creatures also teaming up against the horse's population. Think of it as an underdeveloped country; no laws, no rules, no sense of direction and no plans for the future... Shade knew she had to talk to somebody about this, but with the awkward situation she was in, not even her brother, Buck, could help her. Not now.
Her father was a cruel and mean spirited stallion, with no sympathy for those who truly needed it. What was the point of being a leader if he didn't know right from wrong? That was a question Shade used to think of a lot. She even mentioned it to her mother once.
Obviously, with being a leader and all, Shade's father became sickeningly gruesome with his ways of the world. He became madder and madder, until almost classified as 'psychopathic' and the family knew that one day, ill luck would follow through, meaning death for some and punishment for the ones left-hence why Shade urgently felt the need to do something before it was too late.
A storm blew overhead in the red skies of Death's Disaster, leaving Buck and Shade no choice but to abort playing in the meadows and leave for the cave, their "home"... Once battling against the stabbing rain and shielding their vulnerable ears from the thunderous boom of lightning, the two young foals grinded to a halt to listen to the screaming and shouting protruding from the interior of the cave, wincing every time something unpleasant was witnessed.
"LET GO OF ME YOU BASTARD!"
Shade's mother cursed and screamed, while being dragged painfully across the floor by their father, kicking out wildly, writhing as much as she could to free herself from the firm hold of her neck and forelock.
"TELL ME WHAT YOU TALKED ABOUT! TELL ME NOW, OR I SHALL KILL YOU RIGHT HERE!"
A commanding voice bellowed back. There was a sound of beating, somebody crying, and then coughing.
"TELL ME THE FUCKING CONVERSATION, OR YOUR HEAD WILL BE PULP IN THE NEXT THREE SECONDS!"
There was a hesitation: Shade knew jolly well what they were both fighting about. It had to be the conversation about their father-and how mad he had become... They were originally meant to gather their belongings in the night and flee for the distant mountains in an attempt to escape from this living hell; however, their father must've been listening and demanded the content. He was too smart for secret-talks and lies.
Shade and Buck, both exhausted from fighting the storm, pushed through the last of the rain blindly, finally reaching the cave's entrance, saturated to the bone, shivering, and slightly delirious from the biting cold.
Almost fainting when she saw the sight, Shade turned away, falling heavily into her brother's shoulder as she felt a hot rush of anger and sickness surge through her veins... Was she really in a fit state to do this? Fight her own father? First herself, then her brother and now her mother... It had to end, and it had to end NOW.
"Who the hell do you think you are, beating mother like this, you MONSTER!"
Shade snarled menacingly at the crazed stallion, rearing up, retaliating with venom in her behaviour; a sign of the purest hatred towards him.
"Go to the f-forest! Shade! Buck! Go NOW!"
Their mother was warning them-it was doing them a favour, and preventing them from getting hurt...
Buck approached Shade instantly with a worried expression, heart rate quickening as their mother quickly stammered the words... Her body was drenched in blood, and her face was blanketed in deep lacerations which accompanied her whole body too.
"YOU! HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO YOUR LEADER LIKE THAT! I WILL KILL YOU LIKE YOUR BITCH OF A MOTHER!"
As the final sentence was through, their father lunged for Shade, slamming her against the cave rocks, causing her to shriek in pain as she fell heavily to the ground, the air being knocked harshly out of her. Towering intimidatingly above her, in a black blur, Shade's father prepared to strike again... Buck saw what he was going to do and dived infront of his sister-tackling back harshly. He kicked his own father in the face, and aimed two more nasty blows to his chest, giving enough force to throw him to the ground and fend him off, which provided enough time for Shade to escape.
"GET OUT OF HERE NOW SHADE! GO! YOUR FREE!"
Buck screamed desperately at the mare who was so traumatized that she couldn't even move. Buck pushed her and chased her out of the cave to make her run... And run she did, never stopping until she blacked out some way away from the scene.
Once Shades father had finally finished severely torturing their mother, who was trying to protect her children from the awful father's, burning and evil temper, Buck was left with a lot of blood in his hands, and no help to clean it up...
He knew Shade did her best to fight him off, along with being injured in the process. Their father was about to beat Shade up senseless to kill her and get her out of the way of his life, because he didn't love his children at all.
As Shade and Buck's mother tried to stop him killing their children, he instantly turned on the mother, eventually beating her so horribly that he had just committed murder. The devastated and broken little yearlings watched their mother go through all of this. Her screams for help and her last words of pained sorrow.
Eventually, Buck managed to get one horse away safely, but he doubted that he would see his sister again, if ever.
Shade, after months of living isolated on her own, finally found a group like her, one named Lorem Inferno, who grew up with her, before coming the best of friends. To this day, they still are.
Buck ran away in search of his sister, and nobody ever knew what happened to their father after that...
